Burning Kiln Winery

Burning Kiln celebrated a remarkable first harvest in 2010 after a long summer of sun and warm lake breezes. The first wines were released in the Spring of 2011. The architectural design has likewise transformed a traditional barn into a must-see structure with scenic views over those same waters and sand beaches written about by discoverers long ago. Burning Kiln Winery has adopted the ancient appassimento method in winemaking which is the technique of drying fully ripe grapes on mats or slated crates for a period of time before fermentation. With the land formerly being used to farm tobacco, they have chosen to use the tobacco drying kilns to dry their grapes. This method helps to accentuate the sugars, boost the acids and balance the tannins allowing for a deeper coloured and fuller flavoured wine to be produced .Come and experience for yourself the beauty, tastes and adventure of Burning Kiln Winery.
