Riparia Rootstock Research Project
With funding from the Growing Forward 2 (OMAFRA) we are working with the University of Guelph out of the Simcoe Research Station on this project. This is a multi-year project which began in May of 2012.
The long-term benefits of this project include the provision of rootstock for current and new growers of grapes in Ontario, and will have additional specific benefits for growers in the sand plains. This assists with the diversification of agricultural operations in the former tobacco growing region. It is expected that rootstock will make the growers much more competitive, have the ability to have cold tolerant varieties and provide specific rootstock for the Ontario region.
We would also like to thank Dubois Agrinovation for the sponsorship of this project. Dubois Agrinovation have been a supporters of our association since the beginning of our association. We are pleased to have them also as a financial supporter of this project.
